Album release: Birds Of All Kinds

Helsinki-based, experimental and improvised music label Bokashi Records puts out their second release: Birds of All Kinds, a debut album from Finnish-Swiss duo Beat Keller & Jukka Kääriäinen. The release will be out on CD and digitally through Bandcamp.
Birds of All Kinds showcases the wide range of sounds created with electric guitars, a variety of FX pedals, and extended techniques. This album serves as a document of the contemporary European movement in cutting-edge improvised music. The music here defies categorization, though influences from Noise, Free Jazz, and composers like Karlheinz Stockhausen and Helmutt Lachenmann areevident. Beat Keller’s and Jukka Kääriäinen’s approach to music stands strongly on its own and is forward-looking.
Birds of All Kinds was recorded on Suomenlinna Island, located just off the coast of Helsinki, in September 2023. The recording, mixing, and mastering were done by Teemu Korpipää. The album consists of a selection of live takes, without any overdubs. Many of the clicks and pops from the pedal switches and the operation of the feedback guitar were deliberately preserved to maintain the authentic feel of a live performance.
